Founded in 1941, NUC is a multi-disciplinary teaching & research university, developed with the joint efforts of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the People’s Government of Shanxi Province.

NUC is located in Taiyuan, capital city of Shanxi Province, 3 hours by high-speed rail southwest of Beijing.

-Faculty/Staff

NUC has 2,727 full-time faculty, staff and service employees. Of the faculty members, 8 are academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

-Students/Enrollment

NUC enrolls about 39,000 full-time students, including 4,000 PhD and Master candidates, and 200 international students. Students come from 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions of China, and Russia, Poland, Pakistan and Bangladesh, etc.

-Academic Programs

NUC offers 85 Bachelor’s, 65 Master’s and 24 Doctoral degrees in engineering, science, liberal arts, economics, management, law, art and education in 17 academic schools. Several degrees and certificates courses are available through online and distance education.

-Research Funding

NUC has received over 4 billion Yuan RMB for scientific research and technological development in the last decade. Research outcomes have found a variety of applications in major State projects.

NUC publishes Journal of North University of China (Natural Science), Journal of North University of China (Social Science), Journal of Test and Measurement Technology, and Journal of Measurement Science and Instrumentation (English Version).
